Why Choose J.W. Smith...
What sets Him apart from the rest?
IN HIS OWN WORDS...
I am a former practicing attorney, administrator, college instructor and now consultant, author and pastor who shares real life experiences.
I CAN'T TELL YOU WHAT TO DO BUT I CAN SURELY TELL YOU WHAT NOT TO DO.
I am committed to helping you in a professional and competent manner. Your time is too valuable and I know you could be doing other things.
Anyway, who wants to sit in a boring class? So I promise to focus on what matters to you. Whether it is a class in continuing legal education in ethics, professional responsibility and/or mental health and substance abuse or just an inspirational/motivational talk, you are what's important. So I will talk about hope, accountability, responsibility and all the things that will help you be the best you can be.
REMEMBER, I will talk from experience as a LAWYER, GAMBLER, PRISONER AND PREACHER/PASTOR. I want to help you reflect on the legal profession. I want to help you in your self evaluation. I want to help you understand that the darkest hour is just before dawn.
I have practiced law, served as a Business College instructor and as an administrator of a Non-Profit Corporation.
I'LL DO A SESSION AT YOUR LAW FIRM
Contact me to arrange an Ethics and/or Mental Health and Substance Abuse session at your law firm.
WHAT MAKES ME REAL
You see, I have been up and I have been down. But I succeeded when it seemed impossible. You can too. I just share what I learned from my experiences and hope that in some small measure you will benefit. I learned what's important in life. Frankly, I learned four important lessons. First and foremost, I learned to accept responsibility for your own actions. Secondly, I learned that crime does not pay. Thirdly, I learned that if you are involved in anything that tends to consume you, then you need to assess your situation and last but not least, I learned that no matter how far you fall, with hard work, faith, hope and perseverance you can get up.
Yes, I want to share all of this with you and more!!!
Few people have seen the law from the perspective
of a defendant, defending clients in criminal matters,
representing clients in civil matters, law office manager,
legal assistant and law clerk (paralegal). I have.
